Seen the attachemnt. It is not clear what you want. I think this is what you want to know.

CorelDRAW measures the object dimensions from the center of the outline of an object. If you need to have a thick outline for an object then it could be a better idea to use contour to create an object that works like an outline.

Anand, I think I know what Carlos is talking about. In Illustrator's stroke palette, there are controls to choose whether the stroke should be aligned centered on the shape's outline, on the outside of the outline, or inside of the outline, and he wants that feature in CorelDraw.

Here's a screenshot of Illustrator's palette to explain.

Absolutely YES !!!

Even though Anand is right that you can do it as a contour effect but I will be honest with you, I work with Corel Draw a few years and I have never used Interactive Contour tool as an outline/contour!

I have never used it as an outline because basically I considered this section as special effects.

Applying outline with different thickness is absolutely BASIC and the most common thing right after drawing shapes and filling with colour.

THat's why the option to be able TO CREATE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE outline for me is a must.

I prepare things for large format printing and every time I have to use thick outline I need to go around the problem  because after exporting to eps obviously real object size to print is different than this declared on property bar.

I think it's not complicated to copy a little bit of programming code from Contour Tool to Outline properties.

It could be even next to "Behind Fill" and "Scale with image", just an option to click or even obviously as an icon.

Personally as a default I would always use inside outline because it's not affecting my real object size.

Hi PD

I have;nt used Illy. So I am not aware of this feature. But this feature can be a better addon for CDraw, I think.

I don't see any advantadge for this feature. You can do this with the Contour tool

I see an advantage in that Carlos's suggestion would be quicker and more intuitive. It is an outline property, so it should belong in the Outline palette.

Absolutely brilliant idea.

Here's a case where it's absolutely needed: Designing adverts where you are paying by the inch or centimetre.

Example: Your advert must be 120mm square. So you use a page size of 120 x 120, create a rectangle, give it a background colour and a 1mm outline. Ah, but now your advert is actually 121 x 121 so with the present "half the line must be outside" the finished advert doesn't quite fit into the space you've paid for.
