As advised by so many in this forum, I have totally abandoned My old machine because of NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH COREL DRAW. Toooooooooo many to mention again. However, after moving to a brand new machine with clean install of drawX4 and taking eveyones advice about dumping my old workspace from draw12, I have made a whole new workspace WHICH SUX COZ THERES NO COLOR! Reassigned all my quick keys and have finally DUMPED ALL THE STYLES THAT DRAW WONT LET GO OF.

WHAT A BLOODY GREAT WASTE OF TIME.No

Draw is UP TO ITS OLD STOOPID TRIX AGAIN. Crashing for no reason, Layer manager is screwed because of back saving. Bitstreem still crashes coz of its conflict with Distiller and Most agravating TEXT IS SHYT. Text takes forever to move. Actually wont move until 30 or so seconds untill it catches up with the mouse cursor. Dont release or it will stay where it was. Try dragging artistic text's size handles to resize. (dont want to futz with the point size, takes too long) CRASH.

My STRONG ADVICE TO ALL WHO CONSIDER THIS SOFTWARE FOR PURCHASE. THINK TWICE (or more) BEFORE BUYING.

For me it has been a money pit that keeps getting deeper. Apparently there is nothing wrong with this application. Its the hardware  network and user that is the problem. Well $3100.00 for new machine w/ quad zeneon processors, Enough ram to choke a horse and a top of the line video card isnt enough. Network is supported by 3 IT peole each with a degree or two in IT. User has been experienced for 10 or 11 years now.

You Decide..... $600 or your SANITY?.

I for one strongly recomend a different Company for your drawing applications. Draw SUX. Im very very very unhappy and intend to recommend anything but draw to anyone that asks..

I dont require any reply to this thread. It simply serves as a warning to anyone that may be researching their options. No one is able to fix these issues.

I have installed CorelDRAW X4 in a AMD Athlon 1700 MHz, with 512 Mb of RAM. Of course, it's not faster as the Core2Duo processor, but I have never any problem. Never, believe me, never has crashed. And I use CorelDRAW X4 for more than one year, everyday, and made all my work with this system. For example I was made calendars, magazines, and books, with a lot of text and photos.

If you want to express your testimony, I have the same right to express my own. Do you think I be someone lucky? Perhaps, but as me, I know many people who are using X4 several months ago and had no problem. Never. I also use Acrobat 8 with X4, and in my job (a prepress center in Madrid) I have the same software.

Ariel, You are positivley correct. You can indeed express yourself. That is what forums are for. WinkDont get upset because someone uses the same software as you and absolutley hates it. NoI used to swear by Corel, now I swear at it. I feel, with all the HYPE that this 'program' is so wonderful, people should have the opportunity to hear/ read the truth about their prospective spending. Yes Im sure you have never had a single problem with Corel Draw. Yes you are very Lucky, as are most of the users in this forum. There are, and Ipromise you, other people that use draw and think about as much of it as I do. They are either not aware of these forums or possibly are so disgusted by the program that they have either tossed it into the recycle bin  or just cant be bothered to complain. I have to use draw in my work environment. I have no choice. (im not going to quit my job over some software.)Therefore, If im forced to endure the perils of this ................program then Im going to express my opinion when ever it gives me greif. Luckily I dont or I would never get anything finished.

Yes, I know. I'm not an stupid optimist or a servile fan of Corel. I use CorelDRAW since v 1.0 and I use my little experience for help other users. Everyday, I dedicate part of my time to solve problems of others, especially in spanish forums. Of course, I know that most people have problems. But, fortunately, most of these problems have solutions. And many of them have their origin in the operating system. Yes, I see problems day by day, and I know the good and bad things of CorelDRAW. But I found good solutions in most of the problems. Also, I use Adobe software, Quark, Freehand and other, with Mac and Windows, in my job. And often, when there are problems with other programs I solve it with CorelDRAW. Therefore, I am not naive, nor ignore reality. But the truth is very different to as the you you relate

I hope you find a solution

Ariel,

Andy prefers ranting to truly solving the problems. It is best we just
ignore him just as he ignores the advice we try to provide.

Firstly, Sorry to hear that youre having so many problems, but I think its somewhat unfair to verbally trash a complete suite of software based solely upon your own experiences. There are many people who love to use Corel and find it a fantastic piece of software to work with. I personally believe that it represents extremely good value for such a powerful suite of illustration and design software.

Have you considered that there may just be a conflict with an existing piece of software that you use that in itself is CAUSING the problem rather than Corel?

Yes Andy, I have. That is why I have a new machine. A bit extreme dont you think? and still, Im in a dark place with Corel Draw x4.Huh?

Foster. I took your advice and everyone elses. ThanxHmm

Andy, would it be possible to arrange for someone at Corel to get remote access to your computer to have a look?
